These images give an idea of the state of the roadmap in the PP-OO era. Several from the 1920's have quite beautiful graphics, evoking the motoring spirit of the age. Map makers were quick to adopt the federal route numbers in 1927, but many continued to label the named routes for several years. By the 1930's names were largely dropped.
